Mandatory Reporting of Abuse
The Austin Stone is committed to keeping children safe from abuse and predatory behavior.
While not all Staff work with our Kids and Students,
it is incredibly important that you know your legal obligation if you suspect abuse, and who to contact.
Report Abuse Within 48 Hours
You have a legal obligation to report any suspected abuse within 48 hours. You can see the guidelines here:

ASCC Protocol
If you suspect any form of abuse has occurred, please comply with the following protocol:
1. Immediately call your Kids or Students Director at your campus and explain the circumstances. They will be responsible for ensuring reporting happens within the 48 hour time period.
2. Write down the details of the event and the circumstances for your concern. Include the date, time, name of the individual, and as many details as you can recall about the situation.
3. Notify your Supervisor and appropriate Executive Pastor by phone and send your documentation of the event immediately after you have completed steps 1 and 2.
4. Report the suspected abuse to the appropriate authorities within the 48 hour window. Remember, every person (including you) that has information about the suspected abuse has an obligation to report. You need to make the report yourself or be certain that the report has been filed with the appropriate authorities.
5. Confirm your report with the Kids Director, Supervisor and Executive Pastor by sending the case or report number.

Questions?
We will have an updated policy that will be released in the future, but for the time being, please follow the steps above.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask your Kids/Students director, and then discuss it with your supervisor or Executive.
Let’s ensure that our Kids and Students are safe!
