How To: Edit in Premiere Pro
1. Open
a. Open Premiere Pro from the Dock
b. Select "New Project..."
c. Pick a Project Name
d. Click "Browse..." to select where to save the project
e. Click "OK"
f. Double click the bottom left panel
g. Navigate to your video files
h. Select them and click "Import"
2. Edit
a. Trim
1. Create Sequence
a. Right Click on a clip and select "Create Sequence from Clip"
2. Trim/Cut
a. Use the trim handles at the beginning and end of a clip to trim off time.
b. Use the razor blade tool to cut the clip
3. Crop In
• Example: Downtown Easter 2019
a. Use the razor blade tool to cut a section of the clip you want to crop in on
b. Select the clip in the timeline
c. In the “Effects Control” panel (top left corner) find the Scale attribute
d. Scale the clip to 150 percent
e. Use the Position attribute to recenter your subject in the frame
b. Add Titles and Lower Thirds
1. Find the Essential Graphics (Right side of screen, or open the panel from the Menu Bar: Click "Window" -> "Essential Graphics")
2. Find a lower third or title you like
3. Drag it into the timeline above your clip
4. Place the playhead over the title
5. Select the title
6. Use the Essential Graphics panel to edit the text attributes
7. Double click on the text in the viewer to edit it
c. Add Music
1. Find a song you like
2. Make sure you have the correct license to use the song online
3. Import the song by dragging it into the project from Finder OR double click in the “Project” panel OR click “File” -> “Import…”
4. Drag the music into the timeline
5. Change the volume level by selecting the music and pressing “G” on the keyboard
6. You can also adjust the volume by expanding the audio layer (Photo) and dragging the volume level up and down
d. Add Fades
1. Select the handle at the beginning or end of the clip
2. Right click and select “Apply Default Transitions” (Keyboard Shortcut: Shift + D)
3. Export
a. Select "File" in the Menu Bar
b. Select “Export” -> “Media…”
c. Select the “Vimeo 1080p Full HD” preset
d. Click the file name to rename and select where to export to
e. Click "Export"
