The Mission of The Austin Stone
Most churches have mission statements that guide their organizations. These statements are shared at staff meetings, prominently featured on websites, and perhaps painted on a wall or included in email signatures. But what are they actually for? What purpose do these statements serve? A shared mission serves to unify, clarify, and motivate action for the members of an organization. The mission gives a shared target that the group can work toward together. When the mission is clear, each person can identify how they can best contribute toward that mission and move forward confidently, knowing they are helping the group reach its goal.
