Supervisor tools to facilitate conversation

The tools listed below can be used as part of your regular leadership rhythms of leading and caring for the people on your team. 

15Five

This is a online system that many of our supervisors use to facilitate weekly checkins with people on their team. You may want to use 15Five because: 

  • 15Five helps you prepare for conversations with your staff/direct reports and helps your team members think through their weeks in a strategic way. 
  • 15Five is intended to be low-effort. 15 minutes (or less) for your direct to complete and 5 minutes for you to review - it's fast and easy. 
  • 15Five is not meant to replace weekly/bi-weekly 1:1s; instead, the goal is to facilitate and direct productive and meaningful conversations with those you manage/supervise.

Staff Reviews

Our more formal Staff Reviews - which include a combination of a self assessment and supervisor review - are meant to provide the time for thoughtful reflection and coaching around three main areas: 

  1. Competency
  2. Character
  3. Cultural Compatibility 

We'll still do one required Staff Review once a year, but it is now available to be accessed by supervisors throughout the entire year at any point where it may be helpful
